This sculpture was originally created as a proposal for the LDS San Antonio Temple but did not make it too far into the committee process. They said they don’t usually have figure sculpture in the interior of a temple, which is where they were considering it for. I later cast it and entered it into the 2006 LDS art competition where it won a merit award.
The “Tree of Life” is a representation of the blessings we can have as families and friends all gathering around to enjoy the fruit of the tree. There were many challenges with this sculpture, such as proportion, the right groupings of figures and the right distribution of shadows and highlights.
